...and what does that mean? It means that we at MDM will be suspending all non-related Whitney news over the next 24 hours in celebration of Whitney's return to the top of the Billboard album charts for the first time in 16 years. In the words of Dave Chappelle "its a celebration..." well you know the rest. Whitney's 7th studio album, I Look To You, (iTunes and Amazon) debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 305,000 copies. The album has received rave reviews from both critics and fans alike. Make sure you pick up a copy because "The Voice" is back.
With inspirational ballads such as "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" and "I Look To You" as well as contemporary arrangements such as "Million Dollar Bill," "Worth It," and "For The Lovers" the legendary pop vocalist proves that she is current without falling into the trap of trying to be half her age. This record boldly shows that Whitney creates trends instead of following them. And most importantly the voice is still there. It's heavier and grittier but honest and heart-wrenching. You can hear the pain, the sorrow, the tears, the joy and now the triumph all resonate through her pipes with such honesty and emotion. If you have a copy of the CD let us know what you think. If you don't, it's time to hop off the late express and get with it. We at MDM highly recommend it.
In related news, "I Look To You," the CD's title track has started to climb back up the Hot 100 charts reaching a new peak of #70 this week while "Million Dollar Bill" debuts at 100.
