The film's portrayal of Nigerians as cannibalistic thugs has led the Nigerian Information Minister, Dora Akunyili to order the Nigerian Film and Video Censors' Board to ask all cinemas in Nigeria to stop playing the film. According to BBC the Information Minister, was quoted having said:
"We feel very bad about this because the film clearly denigrated Nigeria's image by portraying us as if we are cannibals, we are criminals [...] The name our former president was clearly spelt out as the head of the criminal gang and our ladies shown like prostitutes sleeping with extra-terrestrial beings."The leader of the Nigerian gang in the movie goes by the nickname of Obasanjo which is also the name of former Nigerian President Olusegun. To date the film has grossed over $110 million domestically and an additional $14.3 million in foreign markets. Check out the trailer for the film after the jump.
