Taylor Swift appeared on SNL over the weekend where she took jabs at Kanye West who interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas who broke up with her over the phone, and of course the media. Check out the skits and her performances of "You Belong with Me" and "Untouchable" after the jump.
The short film was directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Where the Wild Things Are). The film is an eerily dystopian portrayal of the hip-hop star's life considering West's recent public meltdown, witnessed by the world, at this year's VMAs. In the short film he stumbles through a club drunk on a lethal cocktail of alcohol, fame and ego and eventually finds himself alone in a bathroom where he exorcises his inner demon.
The Donda West law, makes health checks and a written clearance mandatory before being allowed to undergo plastic surgery in the state of California. Nearly 2 years ago on November 10, 2007, Dr. Donda West, the mother of entertainer Kanye West passed away at the age of 58 following cosmetic surgery. The retired professor underwent surgery without a medical clearance, her preexisting coronary artery disease and multiple postoperative factors following surgery are what led to the fatal outcome.
"Sometimes patients may think they are well enough for cosmetic surgery, but in reality are not," Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter said. "This bill will potentially save lives."
Carter was contacted by Donda West's niece, Yolanda Anderson, to propose the bill in February 2008. The bill was approved by the senate, but vetoed by the Governor, due to an overwhelming amount of bills. In an effort to not give up on her aunt, Yolanda was determined to get the law passed.
The Donda West Law Assembly Bill 1116 was re-submitted, February 27, 2009 and as of October 12, 2009, The Donda West Law is now a law. Yolanda Anderson realizes that this will never bring Dr. West back; however the comfort in knowing that she turned Donda's Tragedy into Triumphed. Kanye said it best:
"A livin legend too, just look at what heaven do send us an angel, and we thank you." (Source: Hip Hop Press)
We're very happy to hear this. It's comforting to know that her death was not in vain. R.I.P. Dr. West.
Check out Beyonce's acceptance speech and interview with Gayle King for being awarded with Billboard's 2009 "Woman of the Year." She also finally broke her silence about Kanye's infamous outburst.
We love her all the more for this interview. Cute and classy. Congrats to her again.
"On Friday at an event in New York City, Gaga, who didn't get into specifics about the cancellation, did say that West would be taking some time off and she would be hitting the road on her own.
"Well, actually, it was a mutual decision to cancel the tour," she told MTV News on the red carpet for the Billboard Women in Music event. "But I'm not taking any time off, so I'll be leaving just a week later than I was supposed to on my own solo tour. It will be the same places. So I will see you guys there. I'm putting out my re-release as well — The Fame Monster on November 24."
She added that an announcement about who will be joining her on this new trek will be made soon. As for the look of the tour, she told reporters she'd be starting from scratch.
"In respects to the creative work that [Kanye and I] did together, I won't be doing any of the things that we designed for the tour," she explained. "It will be entirely new, and it will be just as amazing and memorable and epic."
Responding to 50 Cent's recent disparaging comments calling the co-headlining trek "the gay tour," Gaga said, "I think it's sad — and I think that nobody in any genre of music should accommodate homophobia." (Source: MTV)
Days after Lady Gaga revealed details about the storyline that would drive the stage show an official announcement has been released confirming the tour's cancellation. The official word comes from a press release by the tour's promoter, Live Nation. Although no reason for the cancellation was given, it is speculated that the fallout from West's interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards is to blame. There are also reports circulating that West will enter rehab for an addiction to alcohol which is being connected to his erratic behavior at the VMAs. West was seen with a bottle of Hennessey on the red carpet. The tour was slated to kickoff on November 10th in Phoenix. According to the press release refunds are available at the point of purchase and tickets purchased online or via phone will be refunded automatically.
This is a shame. The show really seemed promising. Kanye's creative genius and electrifying stage presence meeting Lady Gaga's originality and dynamic performance style would have surely been a hit.
"Gaga says they will use a new stage that stretches from one side of the arena to the other - "imagine an in-the-round experience, but larger," Gaga said.
While she was typically coy about revealing too many details about the tour, she did say that she and West would 'spend a lot of time onstage together.'
Gaga also provided a look inside the notion behind the show - and, for fans of the flamboyantly bizarre singer, the high-concept show sounds as though it will be unlikely to disappoint.
'The storyline is that Kanye is on one end of the stage and I'm on the other, and the whole show, we are trying to get to where each other is,' she said. 'I want something that he has, which is the fame, and he wants something that I have, which is home, and my humble beginnings. So we battle each other throughout the entire performance to steal each other's spaces.'
'So I'm essentially on a quest to kill Kanye West to steal his fame.'" (Source: The Canadian Press)
We're excited for this concert. Kanye alone is a very charismatic performance who always finds a way to deliver an electrifying, out-of-the box experience for fans. Lady Gaga is also very good at commanding the stage and pushing the envelope. Sounds like a hit if people are willing to forgive him for the Taylor Swift fiasco.
This song is extremely hypnotic. We love it. The single comes from Consequence's upcoming sophomore album, Cons TV. Consequence is signed to Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music Label and the video was directed by Hype Williams.
We're not sure what Lady Gaga cupping her breast while a random black hand holds her torso has to do with the theme, "Fame Kills," or a tour. "I actually thought it was the equivalent of what Kanye did to Taylor Swift but nobody really talked about that because I'm not a lil sweet girl from middle America."
We agree. We at MDM were wondering why everyone flipped out on Kanye but Lil Mama didn't catch half the flak or backlash for her VMA interruption. Last week Alicia Keys commented about the incident on the Today show. Check out what she had to say.
Ok, so we at MDM love Drake but he has yet to do a video that impresses us. We're looking for him to deliver a visual as classic and fresh as the music he makes. We'll cut him some slack since the single was released from a movie soundtrack. We all know videos for movie singles usually equates to a bunch of boring performance shots interspersed with clips from the movie. And were we the only ones nervous with all that pyro? We just kept having flashbacks of Michael Jackson and Pepsi. RIP MJ. Let us know what you think about the vid.
Mos Def defends Kanye's behavior at Sonar in Baltimore.

Will Kanye West show up? Will he win any of the awards he's nominated for? Will he act right? I think those are probably the three questions on everybody's mind.
Check out what Lil Mama had to say about bum rushing the stage after the jump:
Someone must have spiked the punch at the pre-party because there was too much foolery going on at this year's VMAs. What would make you think you could get up onstage uninvited in the middle of someone's live, arduously thought out and rehearsed music awards performance and not have them feel some sort of way about it. This kind of foolishness would never happen at the Grammys.
On The View, Taylor gives her reaction to Kanye abruptly interrupting her acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the 2009 VMAs:
Not too long after that interview Kanye reached out to Taylor to personally apologize. Later, in an interview with ABC Radio, Taylor revealed:
"Kanye did call me and he was very sincere in his apology and I accepted that apology [...] The support that I got from other artists and from the fans and so many people sticking up for me, that's what got me to the place that I could accept that apology. I'm just very thankful that everyone showed me so much love" (Source: ABC News Radio).

This looks like a spread straight out of King Magazine. With her recently signing to Ford Models and being in Elle I guess I was expecting something a little more high fashion.
"Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," "Nightline" co-anchor Terry Moran wrote Monday evening. Moran has more than 1 million followers on the microblogging service.
CNBC objected to the post, which was apparently from a portion of the interview that was supposed to be off the record. Moran quickly deleted the comment (although it still can be accessed online), and an ABC spokesperson apologized for the tweet in a statement first posted on Politico.
Moran "prematurely tweeted ... before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again," the spokesperson said.
