Did Chris Brown Call Jay-Z A Cornball?

Posted by Media Mogul On 7:31 AM 0 comments

Last night during the 37th annual 2009 American Music Awards, Jay-Z took to the stage to accept the award for Favorite Hip Hop Male Artist. There is a lot of speculation the disgraced R&B singer dissed Jay by calling him a cornball during his acceptance speech. Get the full scoop after the jump.

At the very moment that Jay-Z took the stage Brown made the following comment on twitter:

Brown quickly removed the tweet which led to widespread speculation that the tweet was indeed directed towards the hip-hop legend. Apparently Chris was watching the show. During Alicia's set before the "cornball" comment he stated:

YESSIR.. FLII STYLZ ON ALICIA SET... dancer/choreographer/rapper..he killed it.. real ARTIST

Flii Stylz was the male dancer prominently featured during Alicia Keys' performance of "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart." So what do you think? Coincidence or catastrophe?

"Empire State of Mind" rises from 2-1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 109.5 audience impressions earning Jay-Z his first #1 on the chart as a lead/co-billed performer. It is his fourth #1 on the Hot 100 if you include his entries as a featured vocalist on Mariah Carey's "Heartbreaker" (1999), Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" (2004), and Rihanna's "Umbrella" (2007). The single also marks Keys' fourth overall #1 on the Hot 100 charts. Major kudos to Jay.

The much-in-demand Canadian rapper will reportedly be featured on Alicia Keys' fourth studio album, The Element of Freedom. Her longtime producer and friend, Kerry "Krucial" Brothers broke the news via Twitter:
"If you have something to say… U should say it right now” Wow this new Ak and Drake is fire! I love my job.

OK Enuff Tweeting, Twitter is the New Snitching… right Drake, right 40? ha! “Stop Tweeting!"
Jay-Z will also appear on the album for the sequel to the pair's hit single, "Empire State of Mind." There are rumors that his other half, Mrs. Knowles-Carter may also be a featured guest on the new CD. The Element of Freedom is scheduled to arrive in stores on December 15th.

The first leg of Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 Tour will wrap on November 22nd. But, the rap mogul will return to the stage in 2010 with Young Jeezy serving as the opening act. Tickets for the 2nd leg of the U.S. tour, which starts on February 22nd in Houston, TX, will go on sale on November 13th. Check out the full list of dates after the jump.

In related news, Jay-Z will also be teaming up with Alicia Keys again for the sequel to their hit song, "Empire State of Mind," which peaked at #3 on The Hot 100. The song will be included on Alicia Key's new album, The Element of Freedom (Dec. 15th), which is now being cited as the reason for the album's push back.

A day after their performance of "Empire State of Mind" at the World Series comes the debut of the much anticipated music video. Lil Mama was unavailable for a cameo appearance. The video was directed by Hype Williams.

During Day 2 of the World Series John Legend, who just returned from Africa, kicked things off with a beautiful acapella version of the National Anthem. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performed, "Empire State of Mind," from the Blueprint 3. Lil Mama was unable to make it to the performance but I'm sure she was hype wherever she was. Check out their performance after the jump.

No word yet on an official premiere date. In related news the two will perform this song at the World Series. However, due to inclement weather, the performance has been re-scheduled to Day 2 of the games instead of Day 1.

It has been confirmed that Jay-Z and Alicia Keys will take the stage sans Lil Mama at the beginning of the World Series on October 28th at the Yankee Stadium. They will perform their duet from Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 album, "Empire State of Mind." Alicia Keys will then take the stage solo to perform the National Anthem.

Check out more details after the jump.

"As a die-hard Yankee fan, I'm honored to perform a song that celebrates the greatness of New York in one of our city's most important landmarks, Yankee Stadium," said JAY-Z.

Both performances will air on FOX which begins its World Series coverage of the New York Yankees versus the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:30 p.m. EST. The video for "Empire State of Mind" was recently filmed in New York and will debut soon. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys are also slated to perform together at this year's American Music Awards along with Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Adam Lambert, Taylor Swift, and the Black Eyed Peas.

Dis-re-spect-ful. Did you see Beyonce's expression?
