First off, YAY for Steve Jobs' official return. Thanks in advance to CNET Asia for the recap. Check out the details after the jump:

  • Genius for the app store - will suggest apps like the genius feature for creating playlists in itunes

  • (i just sent my iPhone off to be replaced... won't get to try this for another week)
2. iTunes 9
  • Genius Mixes - Endless genius playlist that goes on and on and on
  • Improved syncing with addition of syncing songs by artist and genre and photos by events rather than just albums
  • Ability to arrange app pages/screen layout from itunes (finally!!!)
  • Home Sharing - Copy and share content between up to 5 computers
  • Redesigned store with cleaner layout
  • iTunes LP - All the goodies that you used to get when making a physical purchase of music media (lyrics, artwork, photos, videos, "inserts", etc...)
  • send "gift" purchases directly to Facebook/twitter

The only thing we're truly excited about is the improvements to iTunes and the new nano with camera, mic, and FM radio receiver. And of course the price drops are always a plus. None of the other news really wowed us. Ringones? I'm still flabbergasted that people actually spend money on ringtones when you can make them for $free.99 in under 2 minutes. Oh, and did we mention Steve Jobs is back. Now lets hurry up with the iPhone 4G so we can really get excited.

New Apple iPods Will be Unveiled Tomorrow

Posted by Media Mogul On 9:35 PM 0 comments

We live, sleep, eat, breathe, and sh*t music here at MDM. So naturally we are lovers of all things Apple, especially the iPod. Tomorrow Apple’s “Rock and Roll” Event will take place at 1pm EST. Details about what to expect have begun to leak including iPods with cameras. Check out what The Washington Post has revealed after the jump.
Here is what we know:

1. There will be iPods with cameras. The Nano and the Touch should get cameras, we're not certain on the iPod Classic. The camera is believed to be the 3.2-megapixel model inside the iPhone 3G.

2. There won't be a tablet. The iPad isn't ready and this isn't the event for the iPad launch. This should happen before the holidays.

3. Steve will probably be there. He's doing OK and this is a good way to rally the troops. He could be a "One more thing" surprise, thereby building the tension and causing an orgasm of fanboi adulation.

Here's what we can conjecture:

1. A new version of iTunes should appear with some sort of social networking built in along with cloud-based playlists you can share with your friends.

2. The iPods won't be available immediately due to their complexity. We suspect they'll be available a few weeks into the future. They've done this before, notably with the Touch.

3. There won't be updates on any other hardware. This isn't a line show but an iPod show.

4. The iPod Classic could be dead or may not receive an upgrade and still stagger on through the line. The classic is fast becoming a storage device rather than the go-to MP3 player for many.

Here's what won't happen:

1. They won't release iPhone OS 3.1. There's no reason right now.

2. To reiterate, there will be no iPad.

First, we are elated to hear Steve Jobs is doing well. Apple without Steve Jobs is like "Katrina with no Fema, like Martin with no Gina, like a flight with no visa." Secondly, iPods with cameras?! iTunes with social networking?! We are super stoked!!! Bring it on Apple.
